I started The Hentex Group because I saw a problem that wasn't going to fix itself.
Government agencies are under enormous pressure to modernize. AI is being introduced into systems that decide whether families receive food assistance, whether someone qualifies for Medicaid, whether a veteran gets the benefits they've earned. These are some of the highest-stakes decisions in public life — and right now, most of the AI being deployed into these systems has no audit trail, no bias monitoring, and no mechanism for a human to override a bad recommendation.
That scared me. Not because AI is bad — it's not. When done right, AI can dramatically reduce processing times, catch errors humans miss, and help caseworkers focus on the families who need the most attention. But "done right" means governance ships with the product. It means every recommendation is explainable. It means a caseworker can always say no, and the system logs why.
So I built it. Not as a pitch deck. Not as a concept. I personally wrote the code, deployed the infrastructure on AWS GovCloud, built the RAG pipeline, designed the override logging system, and created the governance artifact generator. I partnered with Rice University's Ken Kennedy Institute to make sure the fairness methodology was rigorous. And I'm currently working with Harris County Health & Human Services to bring it into a real environment.
I'm a one-person company today. I won't pretend otherwise. But the product is real, the infrastructure is live, and the mission is urgent.
